Meet Dr. Kiahni
I am a licensed therapist and counseling psychologist with over 19 years of experience in mental health care and higher education. I currently work in virtual private practice, supporting clients navigating anxiety, depression, identity, relationships, and life transitions.
A meaningful part of my clinical experience includes working with the Military and Family Life Counseling (MFLC) Program, providing support to military service members and their families both locally and abroad. I also worked at the British International School of Dubai, where I supported third culture kids and deepened my understanding of identity and cultural transition.
In higher education, I have served as a professor with the University of Liverpool and the American University in Cairo, teaching psychology and mentoring future researchers.
I am also a contributing author in Homework Assignments and Handouts for LGBTQ+ Clients: A Mental Health and Counseling Handbook, reflecting my commitment to affirming and accessible mental health resources.
Across all roles, my work centers on identity, culture, and emotional well-being, with a strong commitment to affirming care for BIPOC and LGBTQ+ individuals.
Today, I integrate these experiences into both my clinical work and the development of professional tools and training for clinicians through The Competent Clinician.
